Itinerary

Day 1

You will fly into Dibrugarh from New Delhi. Surrounded by the majestic Brahmaputra River the town of Dibrugarh will be your gateway to the Expedition. You will be picked up by our Trip Leaders and we will begin our 3 hour road journey towards the beautiful town of Pasighat. Here we shall be staying at the Boutique Abor Country Lodge next to the Sian river. The remainder of the day will be spent in getting to know the team and the initiative, along with bonding with your fellow expedition members over a common vision and purpose.

Day 2

The drive to Yingkiong will be a 8 hour journey from Pasighat. The going will be tough, but the beautiful landscapes and the presence of the breathtaking valleys of the Siang River will be worth the journey. On the way we stop at Damroh river side camp, the team will have its first village experience here which will help them to accommodate for the upcoming journey.

Day 3

Through pristine landscapes, the team will drive to Tuting, which is the last motorable town, near India’s border with South Tibet. It will take 10 hours to reach the destination, but entire journey passes through beautiful rivers, mountains and jungles. The engaging discussions with fellow travelers and the beautiful scenery enroute will make the journey totally worth it. We shall be staying at a Government Guest House / Camp overnight.

Day 4

We will leave early after breakfast. The journey is divided into two legs; first we reach to the Nyring village by vehicle, then we trek to the Devkota Monastery. The trek will take 3-4 hours depending upon the combined health of the group. The tropical forest and hanging bridges make it one of the most beautiful trekking routes of the world. We will stay at the monastery in the homestays for the night.

Day 5

After a good breakfast, we shall pack our tents and begin the trek towards Silipu village, the last settlement of the unelectrified patch. The village is home to the ancient Mishimi tribe. The trekking route passes through dense jungle and hanging bridge which will give you a good idea of the daily struggle of the native population. The tribe is welcoming and eager to learn from the outer world. We will stay at the village homes and eat with them to experience the culture.

Day 6

The team will spend the day on the electrification of the village. We will train the participants on the basics of the Solar grid system and monitor as they proceed with the installation process. The project will be accomplished under the supervision of our engineers and team leaders. The night will end the long wait of the village by bringing light to the lives of the community. Today is the last day that we spent with our hosts at Silipu.

Day 7

We start our return journey today. We head back to the village Devkota and stay overnight. The team will learn about the survival mechanism in the jungles from our local guides on the way back. The evening will be spent cherishing the memory of the village electrification and we share our experiences with each other.

Day 8

The next leg of the trek is accomplished today. We trek back to Nyring village, where our vehicles will be waiting for us. The local team will keep their invaluable knowledge of the region, culture and survival mechanism in the tough conditions. We stay in the government guest house or make a camp at a beautiful and scenic location near Tuting.

Day 9

We will relax and explore the biggest town of the region today. The team will get some time to visit local market to buy souvenirs. We will also pay a visit to the beautiful monastery and walk on one of the longest hanging bridges of the region. Tonight, we prepare for the arduous return journey to Passighat.

Day 10

After a good breakfast, the team shall begin the journey towards Yingkiong. We leave early to make time for some good photographs at the selected locations. We stop at jungles and riverside to capture the beauty of the region. We stay at a guest house or make a camp on our way to Yingkiong depending upon the overall conditions of the group and journey.

Day 11

We return to our base camp today; the beautiful abor country resort awaits us. We spend the evening on the beach of river Siang and share each others memories, personal journeys while we enjoy our food at a beautiful location.

Day 12

We have kept the best tourist experience for the last. We start our day with a breakfast at resort, followed by river rafting in Siang. The second half of the day will be spent in village Rani where the villagers have prepared a war dance, a cultural show and food fiesta for us.

Day 13

Today we bask in the beauty of the region other than Passighat. We start early after breakfast and make our halt at Roing town. The remaining of the day will be spent at Namsai where we visit the Golden Pagoda and rest.

Day 14

“The mighty mountains beckoned and we answered the call. “It’s time to say our farewell all around and make our way back to the airport with the GHE Team Leaders who will assure your safe departure!

Carbon offset

The expedition to electrify 15 households will offset 63 tons of carbon from the environment by replacing 1,320 liters of kerosene through the setup of 8 solar microgrids.

Our estimates suggest that the entire 14-day expedition's carbon footprint, including emissions from camping, hotel stays, and participants' return flights, will amount to approximately 26.5 tons.

Overall, your trip to the Himalayas will be carbon negative!
