FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Learn how GHE Impact Expeditions work!

What are GHE Impact Expeditions?

GHE Impact Expeditions are curated field journeys where participants and travellers visit remote and unique regions. During the expedition you help implement tangible sustainable development projects and at the same time experience local culture, spirituality and community life.

Who can join an expedition?

Any traveller with a passion for sustainable development, adventure and meaningful impact seeking purposeful travel. GHE will typically communicate any prerequisites (age, fitness, duration) depending on the specific expedition.

What is the typical duration and structure of an expedition?

The expedition duration may vary (for example 7 days to 15 days)
depending on location, itinerary and logistics.

What kinds of projects are involved in an impact expedition?

Project types may include: installing or upgrading clean‐energy systems, establishing digital learning labs, building or improving livelihood infrastructure, environmental regeneration or clean cooking solutions. Each expedition aligns with GHE’s integrated development model of energy, education, livelihoods and climate action.

What skills or training will I gain?

Participants typically gain hands‐on experience in the field (technical, construction, community engagement). Travelers will exposed to insights into sustainable development in remote geographies and work with a cross- cultural team learning about leadership in challenging settings

What is included in the expedition cost?

While specifics will vary by expedition, generally included are the lodging/accommodation in the region, project materials and coordination with GHE, local transport from airport to airport, meals during the expedition days, permits, camping materials, support staff and guides from GHE. Any travel to the starting location, personal gear, insurance and optional extras will be separate.

What should I pack and prepare?

GHE shares the list of expedition essentials separately for each trip based on the time and duration of the trip.

What are the fitness / health / safety requirements?

Since many expedition locations are remote and may involve trekking or off-road travel, participants should be reasonably fit and in good health. Any pre-existing health conditions should be disclosed via the medical form which it to be submitted by the travelers post their confirmation to join the trip.

How is the community involved in the expedition project?

GHE’s model emphasises community ownership. Local community members are engaged in planning and operations of projects. Participants work with and not for the community. The local voices are an integral part of the experience.

How is the impact of the expedition measured?

GHE tracks impact in the form of measurement of overall carbon emissions of the trip, number of community members served, clean energy infrastructure installed, carbon emissions reduced from the impact work, long- term sustainability of the installed systems and livelihood improvement indicators. Post expedition follow up and monitoring by GHE helps track outcomes.

What is the cost to participate and how is the fee structured?

The cost varies by expedition based on the location, duration and impact.

Is my fee/participation tax-deductible or considered a donation?

GHE expeditions do not come under the purview of tax deduction or donation. They are a tourism service.

How do I book a place on an expedition?

Booking is done via the GHE website or by contacting the expedition team. After registration, you may need to pay a deposit to secure a spot. GHE will provide an information and participant pack with itinerary and pre‐travel instructions.

What happens if I need to cancel?

GHE’s cancellation policy will be outlined in the expedition terms. Typically, a portion of the fee may be refunded depending on how early you cancel. Some costs (logistics commitments, materials) may be non-refundable. Check the specific expedition details or contact the GHE team.

What if expedition dates are changed or site conditions become unsafe?

GHE monitors weather, local conditions and security risk. If an expedition must be rescheduled or cancelled for safety reasons, GHE will coordinate with participants on alternatives or refund. Participants are encouraged to have travel insurance covering interruptions.

What kind of follow-up occurs after the expedition?

After returning, participants are often invited to engage in debrief sessions, share their experiences, act as ambassadors through the GHE Alumni network and stay in touch through the newsletter.

Can I bring my own team or partner organisation?

Yes. GHE welcomes group bookings from corporate teams, academic institutions or social organisations. Such partnerships may have customised project scope, branding and impact metrics. For more details, you can reach out to us at info@ghe.co.in

Why join an expedition rather than just travel?

By joining a GHE Impact Expedition, you don’t just visit a region but contribute to meaningful development, engage with the local community. Learn firsthand about sustainable systems and leave a positive legacy. It’s travel with purpose, adventure with impact.
